Coki

Dean Harris, professionnaly known as Coki on August, 26 1980, is one of the pioneers of Dubstep alongside Skream, Loefah, Rusko and Mala in the early 2000s. Hailing from the London suburb of Norwood, he is, unlike his team-mates, very discreet about his life.

He has played an important role in the development of UK Dubstep, and has a style that sets him apart from the others: a more brutal, dancefloor-oriented style, which he would become the father of Tearout, around 2007. The genre was born with his flagship track “Spongebob”, the first Tearout song ever, where its basses are made by the laughs of Spongebob, from the cartoon of the same name.

Coki is a member of the duo Digital Mystikz, with Mala, and of the label and collective DMZ, with Mala and Loefah, and also organizes parties in the London suburbs.

Today, Coki is often cited as a source of inspiration for more recent artists, and it's thanks to his genre, Tearout, that one of the scene's biggest genres was born and will dominate the years 2010 to 2012: Brostep.
