Froggycore is a subgenre of Nightcore. It uses a similar sped-up melody or sample. Separating it from Nightcore is the genre's use of elements from Drum and Bass and Trap. Froggycore originated on the east coast, with small cliques of artists spawning in Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta, and Baltimore. The genre is thought to have begun in Philadelphia.
Froggycore is characterized by a sped-up melody, fast rhythmic beat, and a high pitch. Most Froggycore songs sample, or take a preexisting song, speed it up, and remix them.
Common tropes in the genre include the use of remixed vocals or samples, with a heavy use of sound effects. The most widely utilized sound effect within the genre is gunshots, used by almost every artists, and is not exclusive to artist of a particular region.
Froggycore producers in the Philadelphia scene often use sound effects of Eagles, ( Most likely as a homage to the city's football team) and also sample artists from Philadelphia. Whereas, in the Atlanta scene, the sound of Falcons is used.
