Glitch is a genre of electronic music from the 90s, considered by some as a sub-genre of experimental electronic music, and by others as a sub-genre of IDM (Intelligent Dance Music).
Origins[]
Its name comes from the sounds of computers (electronic devices) or electrical devices malfunctioning, which music of this genre uses.
Characteristics[]
These sounds can be created by skipping CDs, scratching vinyl, circuit bending and databending techniques or other distorted noises.
Other things[]
Like almost all genres of experimental music, glitch is not distinguished by particular rhythmic cells, or even by a specific construction of its compositions, but a significant number are nonetheless close to minimal techno, making it more "listenable".
