A type of delay line that can capture a sample of a sound or short clip, and then repeat it indefinitely, without any degredation or loss.  Such devices are most commonly used to allow stage performers to accompany themselves, by first creating a melody or rhythm loop, and then soloing while the loop repeats.  Most loopers are packaged as stomp boxes , so that the performer can start and stop the recording process with a foot switch, while playing the part that is to be looped.  Some loopers also have a sound on sound capabilty.
