A manufacturer of modular synthesizer equipment in the Eurorack format. Monome was founded in 2005 by Brian Crabtree and Kelli Cain, in 2005. Its first products were a series of pushbutton-grid controllers; Monome was one of the pioneering companies in producing this type of controller. Its other offerings consist of a set of digital processing modules, most of which can be loaded with open-source software to perform various functions. Some of the modules can communicate with each other with a behind-the-panel backplane bus, or interface to Max/MSP software via USB.
