Musique Concrète is a subgenre of Experimental Electronic Music, espacially, a form of Electroacoustic music, that appeared in 1948 in France.

Characteristics[]

the fundamental characteristic of this genre is the use of natural sounds : such as animals, machines, musical instruments, acoustic or electronic sounds. Music of this genre produced prior to 1970 largely used tape studio techniques, as digital sampling did not exist at the time.

History[]

Musique Concrète was created by Pierre Schaeffer in 1948, with his song named Étude aux chemins de fer (Translated in English by : Railway Study), where Pierre used sounds from trains.
