To change a modular synthesizer module from one format to another. This involves removing the circuitry from its front panel and re-mounting it to a new panel designed to the new format, and possibly changing panel pots, switches and knobs to better suit the new format. It may also include changing out the power connector on the board. Reformatting is not always possible -- differences in power supply voltages, board construction, or physical clearances for circuit boards behind the panel, may preclude it.
