A manufacturer of modular synthesis equipment based in The Hague in The Netherlands. Hordijk is the epynomously-named company of synth designer Rob Hordijk, who focuses his efforts on designing synths for West Coast style synthesis. The company grew out of a series of workshops that Hordijk conducted in the 2008-2010 timeframe in which the participants learned how to build a modulation circuit Hordijk designed, called the Rungler, which performs complex and pseudo-random algorithms to generate control voltages for oscillators and filters.
The method in which Hordijk modules are packaged is somewhat unorthodox. Hordijk modules conform mechanically and electrically to the MU/Dotcom format, but the panels do not have the side tabs that Dotcom panels generally have, and the black background goes all the way to the panel edge. Because of this, they are often mistakenly assumed to be MOTM format panels. Additionally, Hordijk modules do use an MOTM-style power connector, and cannot be connected to a Synthesizers.com power harness without an adapter. All Hordijk moduels are 2U wide.
Rob Hordijk announced his retirement at the end of 2017. He passed away on September 6, 2022. The future of his designs is still unclear as of the end of 2022.
