A method of contstructing a keyboard so that it has a moderately light and slightly damped touch (and perhaps less key travel), somewhat like an organ. Such a keyboard tends to be more suitable to players who have either trained on organ or never played keyboard prior to taking up synthesizers. Piano-trained players often scoff at synth-weighted keyboards, but this type of keyboard can actually play faster, and it is usually less mechanically complicated (and therefore less expensive). Compare with piano weighting.
