Trancestep (also Trance and Bass, or T&B) is a fusion genre of trance and drum and bass that fuses tempo and breakbeats of drum and bass with melodies and structure of trance. John B and Concord Dawn coined this first version of the genre between 2001 and 2002.

More recently, trancestep has become a melodic and emotional hybrid genre. This version combines the rhythm, depth, and heavy and powerful bass of dubstep with the melody, pianos, leads, and ethereal atmosphere of trance. This version of Trancestep was coined by Seven Lions in 2012, with his remix of Velveta - The Great Divine.
